new home appIn the age of “right now” services and product solutions, the process of buying a home through endless games of phone tag and unanswered emails can honestly seem downright antiquated to some. Inspired by the on-demand nature of the car service app Uber, the newly released iPhone app Curb Call looks to connect homebuyers with REALTORS® in the same instantaneous fashion .  The app was actually first built in just a weekend at the Rets.ly Hackathon sponsored by Realogy last November.  {Disclosure :  TRIBUS is an investor in Rets.ly }

Those on the hunt for a new home in the app’s eight featured markets can create a request for a showing, but instead of being connected with the first available real estate agent, home buyers are given a list of all agents in their search area who have a status set to ‘available.’ Prospective buyers then have the ability to compare and contrast agents through Curb Call profile feedback rankings, and then decide which agent will work best for their needs.

Once the buyer finds the agent of their choosing, the agent is then alerted through email, providing that prospective buyer’s full contact info and requested amenities. The real time nature of this app is great for REALTORS® who find themselves with a window of downtime during their work week. Most showing requests are done so when a buyer is standing directly in front of a listing, so real estate agents know that when an alert shows up on their phone, they’re able to get right into a showing when it’s most convenient for them.

When Will the App be Available?

Although the app is still in it’s early stages, most users from both sides of the service should find it relatively easy and efficient to use. The app is free for interested buyers, and Curb Call is ensuring availability of agents by working directly with brokerages, so their agent roster can implement this tool with their already existing client management software.

As of now, Curb Call has reached an exclusive agreement with Realty One Group, one of the largest real estate firms in California and Nevada to launch it’s software. Realty One finds value in this platform since most buyers who download the app are already well into the buying process, and are not married to their own real estate agent. It gives agents the ability to swoop in and provide showings in the fastest manner possible. Curb Call Technologies, Inc. also plans on working with smaller brokerages at launch

Curb Call is nearly available for iPhone on the App Store, and an Android app is currently in the works to be released later this year. Although the app is only exclusive to certain brokerages at launch, you can still find out more info on how the service may be well-suited for you at the Curb Call’s official site.

    I actually saw this app at the Rets.ly hackathon. I would have picked this one as my winner out of the 20 or so entries actually. I think there is something to be said about getting yet another step closer to a contact and allow them to answer that need for immediacy. Sometimes, when you’re ready to look, you want to look right that second.
