Online Marketing FunnelUnderstanding how your real estate website generates leads will help you to prioritize the time and effort you put into this marketing tool.

Think of your website as a classic marketing funnel, that’s a really simple way to visualize conversion.

Before you can generate leads from your website, you need readers, buyers and/or sellers going to your website.  My personal experience is that finding sellers online is a much more difficult than attracting and converting buyers.

Getting targeted readers to your website can be accomplished in one of two ways.  Either you are driving and pushing traffic to your website or you are attracting readers to the content that is on your site.

Driving Traffic to your site requires that you promote your website everywhere and anywhere you possibly can.

This includes adding your Website URL (address) to:

  • Your business card
  • Open house flyers
  • Printed marketing materials
  • Your email signature
  • All of your social profiles
  • All of your blogging profiles (active rain)
  • Your business card
  • For sale signs
  • Email Signature

Being found by strangers online, known as organic (search engine) traffic is a “next level, advanced” marketing strategy that most will never understand.  If you are a member of this community, you are light years ahead of your competition by putting yourself in an environment where this conversation is always happening.

While you are learning to attract organic traffic to your site, which will take a lot of work and a long time, taking these simple steps and creating a habit of intentionally and consistently promoting your web address will give you a good start.

Believe me when I say that marketing your business online is unlike anything that you are currently doing to sell real estate, unless of course, you are already successful at marketing your business online, then this should sound very familiar.

Getting traffic to your site is the only way you will ever generate a single lead from your website.

Are you going to wait around for someone to stumble into your site or are you going to do everything in your power to purposely and aggressively market your business?
